Where You Find Documents

Documents can appear on:

  • Candidate pages
  • Project pages

Document availability depends on your role, permissions, and tenant configuration.

In practice:

  • External users typically see candidate documents that are part of the shared application context, plus candidate photos
  • Internal users can see a broader document set across Projects, candidates, and applications

Project documents and candidate documents are displayed in separate places in the UI.

PDF Viewer Basics

EmmyPortal includes a built-in PDF viewer for reviewing documents (powered by Apryse).

Common tasks:

  • Navigate pages
  • Zoom in and out
  • Search within the document
  • Download the original file (if allowed)

The viewer adapts to screen size. On smaller screens, some controls are simplified to keep the document readable.

Some controls (for example: print or export) may be disabled depending on tenant configuration.

The viewer is intended for review and collaboration inside the portal, so most users can stay in context instead of downloading files first.

Annotations And Comments

You can add annotations to PDFs to support collaborative review.

Typical annotation workflows:

  • Highlight relevant passages
  • Add notes or comments for other reviewers

Annotations are stored with the document and are intended to support collaborative review. They should be treated as shared, persistent markup rather than personal notes.

Downloads And File Types

EmmyPortal supports PDF viewing directly in the browser. Other files can appear as downloadable documents. Candidate pages can also contain videos.

If a file type cannot be previewed inline, EmmyPortal will usually offer a download instead.

Troubleshooting

Common issues:

  • Access denied: your account does not currently have access to the document in this Project or candidate context
  • Document not found: the file reference exists, but the underlying file is temporarily unavailable or was removed
  • Annotation not visible: refresh the document view first to make sure you are looking at the latest saved state

If a document should be visible but is missing, contact your internal admin or your EmmySoft contact.
