External Users
EmmyPortal was primarily built for external stakeholders. External users typically only see candidates that have been shared to the portal.
External access is intentionally narrower than internal access. In particular:
- Candidate visibility depends on whether a candidate was shared to EmmyPortal
- External users only see candidates that are already past the presentation step configured in EmmyCore
- Some candidates may remain hidden until required privacy conditions are met
- Document access is more limited for external users

Internal Users
Some customers have an internal portal enabled for recruiters and consultants.
If you are unsure which user type your account has, open your user icon in the top-right header. The account menu shows whether your account is configured as internal or external.
In the portal, access depends on two things:
- User type: external vs internal
- Tenant setting: whether the internal portal is enabled for your tenant
Some actions are additionally permission-controlled (for example bulk candidate actions).
Internal users are intended for recruiters and consultants who need a portal view with more operational detail.

Internal Portal Availability
Internal portal features may be disabled for some tenants. If your tenant has internal portal enabled, see: Internal Portal.
Managing Access
Access is managed through the Admin Console.
Only internal users can access the Admin Console.
In practice, portal access is managed through a combination of:
- Project assignments
- Product / licence access
- Role-based permissions
- Tenant feature flags
This means that access is layered. A user may be able to open EmmyPortal but still not see EmmyBI, Company Analysis, internal bulk actions, or the Admin Console link.
